Dave Corey, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist with over 40 years of experience performing psychological evaluations of applicants and employees in public safety positions (e.g., police officers, firefighters, emergency dispatchers, corrections officers, parole and probation officers, federal law enforcement positions) and other high-stakes positions, including physicians, nurses, pilots, and air traffic controllers. He is the founding president of the American Board of Police & Public Safety Psychology, and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 18). He is an ABPP board certified specialist in both forensic psychology and in police and public safety psychology. Dr. Corey’s practice consists primarily of performing, testifying, teaching, and researching about preemployment psychological evaluations, fitness-for-duty evaluations, threat assessments, and competency-to-practice examinations. He is licensed to practice psychology in Oregon, Hawaii, Washington, California, Utah, and Arizona. He is the co-author of the MMPI-2-RF Police Candidate Interpretive Report (PCIR; Corey & Ben-Porath, 2014). In addition, Dr. Corey has authored or co-authored 24 peer-reviewed articles, books or book chapters on police and public safety psychology topics, including the California POST Peace Officer Psychological Screening Manual (Spilberg & Corey, 2022).
